About

The Provincial Information Service (PIS) is a project that is funded by Irish Aid, and operated by the South African Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR). It is aimed at Members of the Provincial Legislatures (MPLs), and seeks to promote transparent governance and accountability through enabling MPLs to have access to the same, credible information. This project also aims to enable fact based decision making into a space that is normally dominated by ideology.

The Institute’s library has data from a wide variety of sources on all major political, economic, and social developments in South Africa. This information is classified each day under more than 1 200 subject headings, supplemented by special files on each province.
